Prewriting Introduction Body Conclusion

Tapping in. You already know how the writing process works. Take a look at the steps we will travel together. Prewriting is your brainstorming time. Time for thinking about your topic: What do I already know about this? What would I like to know or research? Researching is a very important skill and your speech body must contain at least three pieces of factual research. We can use: books and the internet to research for our speech.

Writing the speech Introduction –This must be the hook in. What makes an interesting speech or speaker? »Humour »Emotive language »Alliteration »Onomatopoeia »Expression Use language that you normally use when you are speaking. It is important to be natural. Some good examples will be given.

Body Must include at least 3 properly researched facts and the sources must be reliable. Tips: –Important people or experts can make your argument stronger and believable. –Statistics and numbers can contribute to the strength of an argument –Emotional language or being able to make the audience feel something can also be convincing. –Make your audience trust you with a trust statement like: “Believe me I’ve tried, it works.” Effective strategies to remember: –Repetition, reasons why, consistency, metaphors, Similes, Analogies, empathy, story telling (ie: Once when I was on camp with school, I was bitten by a white tail spider… and it did not kill me, I have no gaping wounds and I have all my limbs..)

Wrapping it up Conclusions must be powerful statements that summarise your argument. –This is your strong point, your emotional technique here is very important. –“How dare you jump up and down and squash one of God’s precious creatures! Stop, think…..Can you make another one?” –DO NOT EVER WRITE or SAY “The End”.
