A process where messages are transferred from a sender to a receiver, through the use of a common system with the intention of influencing one another.

WHAT IS COMMUNICATION PROCESS? The exchange of information (a message) between two or more people.message Involves 5 components: - sender -message -channel -receiver -feedback

SENDER ENCODE THE MESSAGE SELECT APPROPRIATE CHANNEL RECEIPIENT DECODE THE MESSAGE GIVE FEEDBACK

WHO IS SENDER? Is a person who formulate, encode and sending messages may be an individual, a group or an organisation

WHO IS RECEIVER Pay attention to in-coming message Interpret the message correctly, check for underlying or hidden meanings Decode the message

WHAT IS MESSAGE The verbal and non-verbal form of the idea, thought, or feeling that the sender wishes to communicate to another person Content of the interaction

WHAT IS CHANNEL Is the means/medium by which a message moves from the source to the receiver of the message Function as a bridge that connecting source and receiver E:g: face to face contacts telephone chat groups radio television

WHAT IS NOISE Any interference in the encoding and decoding process that reduces the clarity of a message. Can be physical noise, mental noise, psychological noise

The Communication Process Mr.Ahmad P.A. System Students at HHS Amir asks if teasing someone counts as bullying. Air, face to face I need students to know that they cannot bully each other. I wonder if that includes teasing someone for fun… “Bullying is unacceptable behavior. You will be punished for bullying.” Squealing sound from PA system. HEARING VS LISTENING? Hearing- sense that allows you to perceive sound; physical act- only requires reception of sound waves For instance, you hear while you sleep Listening- mental process that requires concentrating on sound, deriving meaning from it, and reacting to it

Listening Process

APPRECIATIVE LISTENING

EMPATHIC LISTENING listening to understand what another person is thinking and feeling Requires more concentration. CRITICAL LISTENING listening for information as well as analyzing and evaluating it. Requires more psychological processing. E:G- Listen to salespeople trying to convince us that their product is better than others
