Purpose of Meeting  To become familiar with the Transition Plan for the incoming sixth and seventh graders for  To become familiar with the Student- Based Budgeting for

Transition Plan for DDEMS  To minimize the anxieties that naturally occur with parents and students through the transition period from elementary to middle school.  To develop a structure plan that will address the needs of all students: sense of belonging, academic support, and parental involvement.

Transition Plan – Instructional Overview  Instructional Program  Rigorous Academic Courses With A 100% Certified Instructional Staff  Enrichment Mod to Provide Remediation & Advanced Courses and Address Social Development Needs of Adolescent Learners  AVID Program  PBIS, Advisory, and Peer Mediation Program

Transition Plan – School Facilities  Grade Level Lunch Schedule  Grade Level Floor Layout – 6 th & 7 th Grade – Separate Floor  Classroom Arrangement – Team Approach (4 X 4)  Lockers Located Separated By Grade Level  6 th Creative Arts Classes Only – Physical Education/Health

Transition Plan – DDEMS Activities  Middle School Tour  5 th and 6 th Graders along with Professional School Counselors will visit Eisenhower MS for a tour and meet with classroom teachers and students. DDEMS Open House  Parents and students will be invited to visit Eisenhower Middle School to see academic excellence at work. Parents will have the opportunity to participate on a guided- tour.

Transition Plan – DDEMS Activities Continued  Parent Orientation  Learn the school’s vision, instructional program, and school’s expectations for academic performance and behavioral conduct Articulation Meetings  Professional School Counselors will meet with feeder elementary counselors and teachers to develop a student profile to assist with student registration.

Transition Plan – DDEMS Activities  PGCPS Transition Day  Students will follow their academic schedule and meet with their classroom teachers to become familiar with classroom expectations and required classroom supplies.  Students will have a brief overview of the Student Code of Conduct conducted by Professional School Counselors and School Administrators.

Student-Based Budgeting at DDEMS  Based upon student enrollment and specified characteristics of students:  ELL  Special Education  High and Low Performers  FARMS  Grade Level Specific
