Speeches of Welcome  A short speech that welcomes the audience and sets the tone of an event Welcome the audience Prepare the audience for what lies ahead Connect with the audience Call down a blessing upon the event/offer your own wishes for a successful event

Acceptance Speeches  Speech given by an individual who is being recognized, honored, or given an award Be thankful and humble Be succinct Contextualize the award

Tributes and Eulogies  Tributes – gives credit, respect, admiration, gratitude, or inspiration to someone Presenting an award this type Give history/meaning of award Laud recipient Present it  Eulogies – speech of tribute presented as a retrospective about an individual who has died

Toasts  Toast – brief remarks celebrating the accomplishments of a guest of honor at an event Best if tied to a single value Narratives that show value in action work well Praise the individual End the toast by raising your glass and drinking
