Exam technique 1. Be prepared (don’t cram, your brain soon forgets) 2. Practice exam papers 3. Read questions carefully, highlight the command words & know what the question means 4. Look at the available marks and make sure you make a point for each mark 5. Construct long 6 mark answers 6. Practice problem solving questions 7. Read through the mark schemes, highlight answers you did not know for next time.

Other tips:  Read examiners reports & identify misconceptions  RAG rate (Red = stop, stuck. Amber = think I am OK. Green = Got it, move on!) the specification & focus on the tricky areas  Be strict with yourself and stick to your revision  The reward will be your results  Once gaps identified seek help  Make revision fun and try a variety of techniques  Don’t forget to use all available resources: Science booklets, revision guides, learning zone, AQA website, kerboodle & other good websites (s- cool, bbc bitesize etc)

Exam preparation – invest time  Achieve 90%+ for A* grade and 80%+ for A grade  Revise hard, practice papers, know the spec including the higher level bold aspects  Plan revision programmes & start revising early  Complete tracking sheet in your revision booklet to self assess what is banked and what is left to do

Revision timetable

Activity  Examine the section of the specification and RAG rate each of the sub-sections. G G A R Use the specification to formulate ideas on answering the 6 mark exam questions.
