The CHAMPS approach is based on the following principles or beliefs: SStructure your classroom for success TTeach behavioral expectations to students OObserve and supervise IInteract positively with students CCorrect fluently -Sprick

Has not learned how to exhibit the responsible behavior Is not aware that he or she is misbehaving Is benefiting from misbehaving (i.e. attention from peers; time out of classroom) --Sue Parsons

There is a need to teach students the expectations for each classroom activity to enable them to be successful.
