 Illustrations. Images made up of lines, curves, and shapes that are usually filled with solid colors. – Also called Vector drawings.  Photographs. Photographs made up of tiny colored dots that are made from scanned photographs or a digital camera. – Also called Bitmap pictures. 13

 Clip art images are organized into collections and media types.  You can choose to search all collections and types or to select a particular type.  If you know that you want a photograph, select that type of media only to make the search more efficient. 14 Exercise Figures 4-12 and 4-13

 Point to a thumbnail in the Clip Art pane.  Click the bar beside the thumbnail to display a list box of options.  Choose Preview/Properties for more info. Exercise 4-9 Figure

 When you group objects, you combine two or more shapes or images so they behave as one.  All objects in a group receive the same formatting.  If you need to work on the objects separately, then ungroup them.  Regrouping combines the objects again Figure 4-17 Grouped shape and picture

 Pictures can add a sense of realism to your presentation.  The Picture Tools Format tab has many commands for customizing and improving picture images Figure 4-17

 Use the Clip Art pane to search for a photographs.  Under the Results should be heading, choose Photographs. 21 Exercise 4-12 Figure 4-19

 CROP (trim) a selected picture to reduce its size or remove unwanted details around the edge.  Click the Crop button and a picture’s sizing handles change to cropping handles—short black markers—that you drag to trim a picture. Exercise 4-13 Figure Cropping handles

 From the Picture Tools Format tab, in the Adjust group, click the Color button, preview, then click to apply. – Color Saturation. Intensity, more or less vivid. – Color Tone.  From the Insert tab, in the Images group, click the Picture button.  In the Insert Picture dialog box, locate your file and select the file name.  Click Insert. 25 3

 With a picture selected, from the Picture Tools Format tab, in the Size group, click the bottom of the Crop button.  Choose Crop to Shape.  From the Shapes gallery, click a shape. 27 3

 From the Insert tab, in the Image group, click the top of the Photo Album button.  Click the File/Disk button.  Locate and select picture files.  Click Insert.  Adjust order.  Click Create.  The default Picture layout is Fit to slide. 40 Exercise 4-26 Figure

 From the Insert tab, in the Images group, click the bottom of the Photo Album button, then click Edit Photo Album. – Reorder pictures by selecting the picture name in the list and clicking the up or down arrows. – Use buttons to increase or decrease brightness and contrast.  Click Update to accept changes. 41 5

 From the Insert tab, in the Images group, click the lower half of the Photo Album button then click Edit Photo Album. – For Picture Layout, change to 1 picture. Now Picture Options are available. – Click Captions below ALL pictures. – For Frame shape, select a shape. – Apply a design theme, but keep it simple so the background does not detract from the pictures.  Click Update. 42 5
