Caution ! Remember that you have no control over your résumé or the information in your résumé once you give to anyone else.

The Rules are different for child actors Look your age. DON’T try to look older. Sound your age Don’t lie about your experience. It’s OK to have limited experience on your résumé at your age.

Don’t put information you don’t want strangers to see.

Contact information Never give your home address, your personal phone number or , Facebook page.

Contact Information Use your agent’s phone number and contact information. If you don’t have an agent, use a parent’s cell phone number. Contact Jane Jones at Star Talent, (704)

Websites If you have an acting website: Make sure that your home address and phone number are not included. Make sure there are no inappropriate photos.

Personal Information Don’t give personal information like measurements. You may give your height. Cassidy Davis Height: 5’2” DOB: 4/17/05

Top Ten Things (that drive us crazy on student résumés) 10. Lies, lies, lies. Tell the truth! You will be caught sooner or later.

9. Exaggeration. Almost as bad as lies. Don’t say you’re an expert Irish step dancer when you took a class once in 2 nd Grade.

8. It’s S E U S S I C AL. No other spelling is acceptable.

7. You were in a musical REVUE. You are writing a REVIEW of The Pirates of Penzance.

6. Columns that don’t line up. Legally Blonde, Jr. Elle NWSA Aladdin Genie Theatre Charlotte Musical Revue Ensemble NWSA Make it as easy as possible for someone else to read. Make it look like you made an effort.

5. A resume that is hand-written. Legally Blonde, Jr. Ensemble Actors Theatre Seussical Horton NWSA Are you kidding me? So unprofessional.

4. A resume that says something like: TV Experience – None

3. Cuteness. (cartoons, silly photographs, fancy fonts, quotations, I’d like to thank the Academy…)

2. Including special skills that should NOT be included: (creative writing, holding my breath a long time, burping the alphabet, painting)
