B: Well, Taiwanese performing arts include acrobatics, puppetry, and Taiwanese opera. 2.A: Is Taiwanese opera the same as Chinese opera? B: Not quite. Taiwanese opera has been influenced by indigenous music and Taiwanese folk songs. So it’s a little different from Chinese opera. 3.A: What does the government do to promote traditional arts in Taiwan? B: It holds festivals and sets up cultural centers which support emerging art groups. 4.A: How are traditional art groups attracting younger people to come and study traditional skills? B: They’re combining traditional art with modern technology and holding festivals specifically for kids.
