OPEN UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES EDUCATION Open University of Applied Sciences (Open UAS) Education consists of degree programme studies and common studies leading to a Lapland University of Applied Sciences degree. Open UAS studies doesn’t directly entitle the student get into one of the degree-awarding programmes but the credits collected from Open UAS studies can be attached to a degree in the Lapland University of Applied Sciences. The study units are open for everybody regardless of their age or previous education.

STUDIES IN OPEN UAS: Offer students a possibility to acquire information and skills which help to maintain professional competence, extend views and improve general knowledge. STUDIES IN OPEN UAS: Open UAS students can study: –single study units or –broader study modules in the group of degree programme students primarily on campus during daytime according to timetables or –in Open UAS separate study units in online or in daytime. Open UAS students can choose study units from degree programmes curricula. STUDY PATH Lapland UAS`s Open UAS provides the opportunity to study towards a degree. Student doesn´t need to be a degree student to start studies in Open UAS as study path student. Study path consists of studies which are parts of education leading to a degree. In Lapland UAS´s Open paths are usually first academic year studies in Bachelor's and Master's degrees. When an Open UAS student has earned credits from study units that are included or otherwise suitable for a specific degree programme in UAS, the student may apply for a degree student in the degree programme. In Lapland UAS student can apply in separate application once she/he has completed 60 credits Bachelor's degree studies or 10 credits in 60 credits / 15 credits in 90 credits Master's degree studies suitable to the degree programme.

STUDY REQUIREMENT: Knowledge and language bases have to correspond to the requirements of the study units. Some study units may require completion of certain prior studies to ensure that the entire group begins the study unit at the same level. The condition for participating in studies that are integrated with basic education is that there is room in the group of degree and everyone has their own computer. Foreign students need a visa or a residence permit depending on their citizenship. Open UAS studies doesn`t lead to a degree and usually a residence permit can be issued for studies at some educational institution leading to a degree. For more information at

COSTS AND REGISTRATION: Students are charged 10 € one credit unit OR 300€ annual fee that allows to complete an unlimited number of credits. The registration is binding. The invoice for the study fee have to be paid at the beginning of the studies according to the acceptance letter send by . Open UAS student`s don`t get financial aid or study-related social benefits. Registration for open UAS studies can be done through internet at Students are accepted to study units in order of registration. Accepted students are sent an invitation to study.

APPLYING TO DEGREE STUDENT: Applying to an English degree programme to Lapland UAS take place through joint application system at Open UAS Path Studies: A student who has completed studies via an open UAS may apply to degree programme by open UAS studies in separate application.
