State Florida State University Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (C.A.R.E.) CARE is an academic support unit that assists FSU in its outreach and support to undergraduate students who may be disadvantaged due to economic, educational or cultural circumstances. CARE provides programs and services targeted to the first- generation college student, and helps to facilitate their preparation, recruitment, adjustment, retention and graduation from college. CARE implements programs and services for eligible entering freshmen students. How Do I Qualify? The majority of applicants selected to CARE will be first-generation college students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who have demonstrated a strong desire to succeed. Applicants must be legal Florida residents. Talented Twenty Within space and fiscal limitations, a student applying for admission who is a graduate of a public Florida high school, has completed eighteen (18) required high school units as listed in this regulation, ranks in the top 20% of his/her high school graduating class, and who has submitted test scores from the Scholastic Reasoning Test of the College Board or from the ACT of the American College Testing program prior to enrollment shall be admitted to a university in the State University System. A Talented Twenty student is not guaranteed admission to the university of first choice. The State University System will use class rank as determined by the Florida Department of Education.
