Dietary Disaster Diet pills are a cultural trend. We can walk into any common grocer and find numerous amounts of pills to choose from. This has become a dangerous development as more and more people are becoming addicted to diet pills and more pills, are causing health effects, ranging anywhere from heart to liver problems.

Diet Pill facts  Diet pills have many different ways of targeting weight loss  “ encourage weight loss by decreasing appetite. Amphetamines, a group of drugs that stimulate the central nervous system, certainly did that. Even better, they reduced the need for sleep and made people feel more alert-effects that to this day help lead to abuse of these drugs.  Diet pills have many different ways of targeting weight loss  “ encourage weight loss by decreasing appetite. Amphetamines, a group of drugs that stimulate the central nervous system, certainly did that. Even better, they reduced the need for sleep and made people feel more alert-effects that to this day help lead to abuse of these drugs.

Hiding the truth  “ Critics of a new drug-dexfenfluramine, marketed as Redux pointed to problems with the drug in animal studies. Worse, observational evidence linked dexfenfluramine to primary pulmonary hypertension, a frequently fatal disease that destroys blood vessels in the lungs. ”  After this finding the FDA still passed the drug with a vote of 6-5 and doctors were writing 85,000 prescriptions a week.  “ Critics of a new drug-dexfenfluramine, marketed as Redux pointed to problems with the drug in animal studies. Shocking?  Diet pills are something that should not be taking lightly. Just because they are available over-the-counter. These pose serious health risks, and risks of substance abuse.  Many doctors and advertisers hide the facts and side-effects of the drug, leaving all of us in the dark, and open to its harm.  Diet pills are something that should not be taking lightly. Conclusion  Diet pills need to be more highly monitored and taking more seriously. They can cause heart and liver problems and even death. They should not be on the market without extensive testing, and never available to minors. These pills should be held to the same standards as prescription medication. With more testing and these pills being held to a higher standard, this will eliminate the bad drugs that are on the market, and prevent the side-effect from being discovered years after its release.
