All Saints Catholic High School & Specialist Language College Coursework and Examinations

All Saints’ is a school where the Catholic faith is taught, lived and celebrated. We will educate the whole person spiritually, morally and intellectually. English 1.February half-term – Open Writing Coursework 2.Half -term November – Shakespeare Coursework 3.Mid November – Non-Fiction Coursework 4.Christmas – Pre 20 th Century Prose Coursework 5.Mid February – Post 20 th Century Drama 6.Mid March – Revision Pre and Post 20 th Century Literature Exam. Reading and Writing Non-Fiction Exam.

English3 overall units of controlled assessment (2 written and 1 reading.) Unit on speaking and listening and a written piece of spoken language study. Unit on reading and writing to be completed by February half-term. 2 written exam papers in June. Paper 1- Response to non-fiction (comprehension). Paper 2- Writing non-fiction (essay). Pupils will take either the Foundation Tier (GCSE grades C-G) or Higher Tier (GCSE grades A*-D). Decided in February.

This year……… Maths : Some pupils will entered for the Linear GCSE in November. If they achieve at least a grade C (or their target grade if higher)they will focus on extra English lessons. All other pupils will take the Linear exam in the summer series.

ScienceTriple Science have exams in each science in Nov and again in summer. They also do a controlled assessment in each science which is completed in class time. Core Science was certified at the end of year 10. Several pupils will re-sit the CS exams in November, March and Summer. Some pupils may only need to re-sit CS in November. Double Science Double Science pupils will sit 2 Additional Science exams in March and a 3 rd in Summer. The controlled assessments will take place in lessons immediately after the March exams. BTEC BTEC pupils must complete all coursework assignments in order to pass the extended certificate worth 2 GCSEs.

RE:All pupils sat the Unit 3 exam in the Summer of year 10 and many will re-sit this paper in the Summer of year 11. The final paper – Unit 8 will be sat in the Summer of year 11. There is no controlled assessment. Art :All Art coursework to be completed by Christmas. The GCSE Art exam will begin in the first lesson back after Christmas at the start of term 2 and will be 4 weeks of preparation followed by a 10 hr exam. MFL:Speaking assessment w/b 3 rd December (30% of GCSE). Writing assessment w/b 28 th January (30% of GCSE). Pupils will be given Progress Booklets for each topic throughout the year leading to the successful completion of above assessments.

Geography:Deadline date for Controlled Assessment 23 rd April. PSHE:Preparation for Working Life Level 1 and 2. Coursework- preparing a CV, letter of application, interview preparation and a final exam Summer. EXAM DATES Mock Exams:Week Beginning Monday 19 th November. Mock Results Day:Friday 7 th December. Summer Exam Series:Monday 13 th May – Wednesday 26 th June. GCSE Results Day:Thursday 22 nd August.
