NGO PROGRAMME IN BULGARIA UNDER THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA FINANCIAL MECHANISM Third Call for Proposals Project “CREATIVE APPROACHES IN THE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION OF RESOURCES” Thematic area: Sustainable development and environmental protection Priority: Increasing the contribution of NGOs to sustainable development Project type: Small project Duration: 10 months Place of realization: Smolyan Total budget: euros, of which the grant – euros and own contribution of the Association – 1,890 euros

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES Ensuring the participation of NGOs in promoting policies for balanced development and sustainable use of natural resources; Increased contribution of non-governmental organizations for greater transparency and accountability of energy and mining; Increasing the contribution of non-governmental organizations for the protection of biodiversity and endangered species (at local, regional and national level).

TARGET GROUPS OF THE PROJECT Main target groups: children; youth. Additional target groups: volunteers; media; local communities; NGOs; roma.

PLANNED Review of the presentation of the topic for sustainable consumption in kindergartens and schools ; Research of national and international good practices on the topic “4 R – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose ” in school and extracurricular activities of children and youth. ACTIVITY 1: Review of the current situation and research of good practices IMPLEMENTED Review of the presentation on the topic of sustainable consumption of resources in kindergartens and schools in Smolyan region: - educational content and teaching approaches ; - training and skills of teachers on the subject. Description of 20 national and international good practices on the topic.

PLANNED Development of models for creative interpretation of the topic of sustainable consumption. ACTIVITY 2: Development of models for creative presentation of the topic of sustainable consumption IMPLEMENTED Report including developed models for creative interpretation of the topic of sustainable consumption in educational and extracurricular activities elaborated.

PLANNED Development of fun games and creative activities on the topic of reducing and reusing waste. ACTIVITY 3: Creation of model educational content on the topic sustainable consumption IMPLEMENTED 10 educational models including fun games and creative activities on the topic of reducing and reusing waste (paper, plastic, glass, metal and textile) developed.

PLANNED Printing of a publication with the collected good practices, models of creative presentation of information and model educational content. ACTIVITY 4: Printing and dissemination of a collection with project materials IMPLEMENTED 300 copies of “Collection of project materials” printed ; Copies disseminated amongst participants in seminars, teachers form kindergartens and schools, volunteers, stakeholders from Smolyan region.

PLANNED Organization and conduction of 3 seminars for teachers and representatives of civil sector; ACTIVITY 5: Organization and conduction of seminars for teachers and representatives of civil sector IMPLEMENTED 3 seminars with teachers from kindergartens and schools, volunteers and representatives of NGOs from Smolyan region conducted; Topics of the seminars: - “Building in depth knowledge of the “4 R” topic – Arda village, “Building capacity for development of educational programs and educational content on the topic “sustainable living” - Arda village, “ Encouraging the establishment of cross-sectoral partnerships dedicated to environmental protection and sustainable development ” - Arda village,

PLANNED Organizing 5 creative workshops for children and their parents on the subject of recycling; Each workshop will focus on a single type of waste. ACTIVITY 6: Pilot implementation of model educational content for age 5-7 years IMPLEMENTED O rganized 5 creative workshops for children from kindergartens and schools on the topic of recycling ; Over 100 participants. - “Radost” kindergarten, Smolyan - “Rusalka” kindergarten – Taran village; - “Izvorche” kindergarten – Momchilovtsi village; - “Ivan Vazov” School – Smolyan; - “St. St. Kiril I Metodij” School – Smolyan. focus on creative utilization of household waste - paper and cardboard, plastic, glass and textile.
