Remember, you have an influence over you environment that surrounds you and affects your health everyday. Here are just a few tips on how you can help protect your health. Childhood Obesity – Don’t be a Couch Potato Being fit means eats well, getting lots of physical activity, and having a healthy weight. If you're fit, your body works well, feels good, and can do all the things you want to do, like run around with your friends. Sun Safety – Block the Sun not the Fun Children and young peoples’ skin is more sensitive to damage from UV rays and they spend more time outdoors than adults. Never let their skin burn – wear that sun hat and slap on that sun-cream. Wash those Hands Washing your hands is the best way to stop germs from spreading. Think about all of the things that you touched today — from the telephone to the toilet. Whatever you did today, you came into contact with germs. It's easy for a germ on your hand to end up in your mouth. Think about how many foods you eat with your hands. Smoking - be Smart don’t Start Smoking is one of the worst things kids or adults can do to their bodies. Smoking and tobacco use can cause cancer and heart disease. Other effects include bad skin, smelly breath and stained teeth, more coughs and colds, difficulty keeping up with friends when playing sports, empty wallet — cigarettes are very expensive! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Remember, rubbish is not always rubbish. Many items can be reduced, reused or recycled to help the environment. Reduce paper use, reuse plastic bags and turn off electronic devices.
