Presentation transcript:

Oº°‘¨ Go Solar ¨‘°ºO Stop damaging our environment and go solar! In this presentation I will show you the ways of solar power and why you should choose it over: Hydro and nuclear power and fossil fuels. You will also see how each way of energy producing works.

Oº°‘¨Cons Of Hydro Power¨‘°ºO Why shouldn’t we use hydro power you may ask. Well here’s your answer! Hydro power destroys plants and animals habitats when they build hydro dams. The natural ‘flow’ of the water to the sea can get disturbed and harm the communities of animals and plants on its way to the sea. Big hydro dams also aren’t the easiest on the eyes. Hydro power works by taking a whole bunch of water (rivers, waterfalls etc.) and making it run over a turbine causing it to move and which is converted into electricity sending it through wires to many different places.

°o.O Why Not Nuclear? O.o° Well, you can just tell that Nuclear isn’t good for the environment or us just by the name: nuclear power. Never mind the cost of 7 billion dollars just to boil water. “it’s the most expensive tea kettle on earth” according to Dave Craft Director of Nuclear Energy Information (Illinois). It is awful for the environment because if any of the radiation from the uranium or plutonium leaked or there was an accident (take Chernobyl as a example) it kills everything and makes us very sick. Nuclear energy works by making fission of uranium or plutonium (splitting the nucleus into nuclei) to make energy or heat to make steam to turn turbines.

·.·´¯`·.·Fossil Fuels?·.·´¯`·.· Fossil fuel energy is simply burning coal and petroleum oil and natural gas. This process is polluting the air. The polluting of the air is causing our ozone layer to get holes in it and lets not go there, with no ozone layer the suns UV rays are damaging to the earth and us. Fossil fuels are also a non-renewable resource.

×÷·.·´¯`·Why Choose Solar·´¯`·.·÷× Solar is the new way to go even though it’s been around for more than a century ago. Solar energy is made by taking the power of the sun is converted into energy. This is a environmental safe and effective way to produce energy. The Sun is a renewable resource (if we didn’t have the sun we wouldn’t be here) so jump into the action and go solar!
