I. Point by Point Organization A. Each body paragraph focuses on one point 1. Topic sentence a. How the two subjects compare on the one point Ex: While the American North industrialized with textile mills and factories, the South remained a mostly agricultural community. Ex: While the American North industrialized with textile mills and factories, the South remained a mostly agricultural community. Point?: Ex: While the American North industrialized with textile mills and factories, the South remained a mostly agricultural community. Point?: Economy

2. Alternate between the two subjects in same ¶ a. Evidence for each b. Analysis for each Ex: By 1860, twenty six percent of the Northern population lived in cities while only ten percent of the South were urbanites (Arrington 2). Factories were often located in big cities and the Northerners who moved there were getting closer to their new employment. On the contrary, Southerners remained largely agricultural and depended on the world market to sell their crops (Smith 10). Families who owned large farms were able to maintain their lifestyles. As a result, the Southern landscape remained unchanged almost from the Colonial times. 2. Alternate between the two subjects in same ¶ a. Evidence for each b.
