 Mobile Learning gives students the opportunity to learn, interact with technology and access the Internet.

NEED

 UNESCO Mobile Learning Week: innovation showcases (I) UNESCO Mobile Learning Week: innovation showcases (I)

 The mobile learning development needs the interaction of the school community: teachers, students and parents.  Mobile learning would not be effective without a clear path that could lead a learning revolution.  If we want to share educational content in different formats, mobile learning is an alternative.

 Mobile apps could be adapted for pedagogy. Learning with mobile apps is real and occurred in different mobile devices and formats.

 When do mobile learning start?  Celstec (2011) indicated that mobile learning started with HI-CE for "handheld learning“.  Sharples (2007) showed how communication and mobile learning evolved during the years; indicating how Wireless PDAs where trending in 2000s.

 Mobile Learning is not a synonym to Mobile Devices.  The important aspect to evaluated is how mobile learning will change education.  Are you using mobile learning in your daily life?

 UNESCO (2013) indicated how mobile learning personalized education.  UNESCO (2013) recommended the development of teachers training in mobile learning.

 2014 National Survey on Mobile Technology for K-12 Education reported that there was an increase in the implementation of mobile learning in classrooms.

“Policy direction encouraging the integration of technology at all educational levels, including BYOD programs, is laid out explicitly in the U.S. Department of Education’s ”Learning: Powered by Technology” publication.”

 UNESCO ISTE Social Media  Educational apps  Students interaction and learning experiences with mobile devices  Facebook  Twitter  BYOD

Who will you recommend as key change agents in your organization, and how can the seven roles of a change agent be used in your organization to effect positive social change? The educational technology specialists would be the key change agents; they understand how technology could improve the education. The time spent in training will be effective. They could begin mobile learning activities and curriculum designs. The seven roles of a change agent would be applied as goals to achieve during the mobile learning design. For example, they will prepare a survey to diagnose the problems; then prepare hands on activities to translate intent into action.

Who would you expect to be (or who are) the innovators and early adopters in your field of work for the innovation you are exploring? What strategies are the most persuasive in convincing them to adopt the innovation? In the mobile learning environment the innovators are the students, each day they shared activities done with their mobile devices. They want to use the mobile devices as learning tools, but the school administration banned the use of mobile devices in the classroom. The strategies to motivate teachers to adopt the innovation will be interactive activities that include the use of mobile devices.

Who do you think would be (or who are) the laggards in terms of rejecting the innovation? What strategies would be best to help move them toward adoption? In mobile learning, laggards would be teachers without technological proficiency. They do not see the benefits of mobile learning in the classroom. Their technological limitations derail change and innovation. A strategy to transform laggards attitudes in the mobile learning adoption will be to identify alternatives for their learning experiences. They will learn by doing. Activities that could help them design and integrate technology in the classroom. Socrative is a tool that could help them understand how mobile devices promote learning interaction.

Which combination of perceived attributes would be best for helping your innovation meet critical mass in your industry? The critical mass in mobile learning would be determined by the amount of mobile smartphones users in the school. The use of mobile devices is common by students at school. The goal to achieve would be to transform the school policy; that would give students the opportunity to participate in mobile learning activities.

Do you believe a centralized or decentralized approach would work best for the adoption of the innovation you are proposing to the Board of Directors? Decentralized Diffusion Systems would give the school an advantage. The designing methodology could include experts and users. The decision process could be adapted to the school needs and users knowledge.

Has the innovation you are proposing to the Board already met critical mass in society? If it has not met critical mass, which of the four strategies for achieving critical mass do you recommend to the Board for your innovation? The access to mobile devices met the critical mass in society (Speak Up, 2013) The innovation has been accept ed. We should begin the mobile learning process in Puerto Rico. Our school could be a platform to innovation and de signed.

Mobile learning is here to stay!
