GridVideo The idea: Use Grid technologies to deliver services to end users. GRIDVideo is a software infrastructure based on Grid services for the storage, adaptation and streaming of media content. Users shoudn’t be aware of all the technologies inside and should be able to use it in a friendly way eg. Web access!
Reasons In a heterogeneous environment a distributed transcoding system is needed to avoid limited resource devices (such as PDA and smarthphone) waste their resource and power supplies. Meanwhile, this system, allows not to generate useless traffic on the links involved in the communication.
