 There are two main areas of the PowerTeacher Start Page: the Left Navigation Menu and the Class Navigation Icons Left Navigation Menu Class Navigation Icons

 This is the left navigation menu of PowerTeacher.  Click on a button at the right to see an explanation and tips for each of the sections.

 The Daily Bulletin could be used by the office to post daily events  The date links can be used to view other bulletins  Teachers cannot modify the bulletin, only read it. Return to Navigation Menu

 Change your PASSWORD  Change the default screen when browsing students in the backpack section.  Choose whether to display or hide the Section Number Return to Navigation Menu

 Click here to access your online gradebook.  Remember it can be manipulated from any computer on the internet, so guard your password. Return to Navigation Menu

 The first drop down menu will contain all the reports which have been created for use in your school (Attendance Audit)  Other settings allow you to print a watermark over the printout or delay your print job for another time. Return to Navigation Menu

ClassesAttendance Student Information Reports

 Change the Default Student Screen under the Personalize tab.  Take attendance for one of your classes.  Find contact information for a student.  Create a Class Attendance Audit report.  Delete Attendance Report.  Find phone number of a staff member.

We will spend the remaining time focused on the PowerTeacher Gradebook

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Class Content tab.  Select Class Info mode.  Enter the required information.  Click Save.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Students tab. The Students window displays the class roster, which includes basic information for each student.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Students tab. The Students window appears.  Click the student’s name or click the arrow next to the student’s name. The Student Detail window will appear.  Click the Discipline, Guardian, Medical, or Other icon to view the alert text.  Click OK to close the Alert window.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  In the Student Groups pane, click the Plus (+) button and select Add Group Set.  Enter the name of the set in the Group Set Name field.  Choose the number of groups you want to add to the set from the Number of Groups pop-up menu.  Enter the name of the group in the Group Name field. Repeat for each group.  Click OK. The new set appears in the Students Group pane.

 In the Student Groups pane, select the set you want to add a group to.  Click the Plus (+) button and select Add Group.  Enter the name of the set in the Group Set Name field.  Choose the number of groups you want to add to the set from the Number of Groups pop-up menu.  Enter the name of the group in the Group Name field. Repeat for each group.  Click OK. The new set appears in the Students Group pane.  Drag and drop the students into the group.

 Create a set for one class.  Create 3-4 groups within that set.  Add students to each group.  Filter/Highlight students within groups.

 From the gradebook menu bar, choose Tools > Categories. The Categories window appears.  Click the Plus (+) button.  Enter the required information.  Click Close to save your changes.

 Select the Grade Setup tab.  Highlight the Calculations button.  Choose Category weights button.  Click Plus (+) button at the bottom of the screen.  Select which categories you will use.  Weight categories based on building determinations.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Assignments tab.  Click the Plus (+) button.  Enter the required information.  Click Save.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Assignments tab.  Select an assignment.  Right-mouse click and select Copy Assignment.  Edit the information as needed.  Click OK.

 Create categories for one class, including Final Exam as a new category.  Weight categories making your Final Exam worth 15% of the overall grade.  Create assignments for a class.  Copy assignment to additional classes.

 Right-mouse click on a student’s score.  Select Score Inspector.  From the pop-up menu you can select Collected, Late, Exempt Score, or Missing.  Add comments in the box provided.  Choosing the Comment tab allows you to choose from a list of comments provided.  Click Close to save.

 Right-mouse click on a student’s score.  Select Items with No Score or Replace All.  Choose one or more values to fill (Collected, Late, Exempt, Missing, Score, or Comment)  Click OK to save.

 Add scores to created assignments.  Use the Score Inspector to mark assignment late or missing.  Use the Fill feature to give every student 100% on an assignment.  Use the Group Filter to give scores to students for a group project.

 In the Section Readiness Summary area, click on the reporting term status. The [Term] Final Grades Completion Status dialog appears.  Select the Final Grades Complete Checkbox.  Enter a comment in the [Term] Status field.  Click OK.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Scoresheet tab.  Click the final grade field of the student for which you want to enter a final grade comment.  Right-click and select Score Inspector.  Click Comment Bank to select predefined comments.  Click Save on the Scoresheet window. A blue circular “C” appears within the selected student final grade field.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Reports tab.  Click Attendance Grid.  Click Run Report.  Choose Open Report or Save Report.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Reports tab.  Click Final Grade and Comment Verification.  Click Run Report.  Select Open Report or Save Report.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Reports tab.  Click Individual Student Report.  Click Run Report.  Select Open Report or Save Report.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Reports tab.  Click Missing Assignment.  Click Run Report.  Select Open Report or Save Report.

 Select a class from the Classes pane.  Click the Reports tab.  Click Student Multi-Section Report.  Click Run Report.  Select Open Report or Save Report.

 From the gradebook menu bar, choose File > Save.  From the gradebook menu bar, choose PowerTeacher Gradebook > Quit PowerTeacher Gradebook.
