Workshop Outline

Balloon contains a volume = 1 tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2)‏

How Did We Do ?

Climate News Update

Here Are My Take Aways Calculating your footprint is not that simple I made it to just below average UK emissions 50% reduction was very easy to do, from Car and Heat – Heat was down because of mild winter and spring – Need a smaller house & Rural public transport But Car & Heat still biggest contributors 80% More big reductions in 2008 will be difficult Small measures help but will not solve climate

Goals Increase use of public transport compared to the car Cycle more if this is possible! Limit car fuel use to under 10 litres per week Squeeze some more out of the CH thermostat Rent a room to half power and heating footprint per person Zero carbon electricity tariff (controversial)‏ 2008 target 3368kg CO2, below global per capita emissions Start to monitor food, waste and water

Gas (Heating)‏ Nothing special happening here

Electricity (Power)‏ Sick Xmas!!! Oct seasonal Spring seasonal

Transport (Car Fuel)‏ Moratorium on Car Party time

Transport (Public)‏ Nothing special here either

Energy Summary Costs of Energy Energy used Carbon used per energy unit The Cost of Carbon Energy use per day

Transport Costs Rail is 15% cheaper than car Rail is half the CO2 per mile of a car

What Next - AOB
