Conflict over Kashmir

Why is Kashmir Important? Strategically located at the foot of the Himalaya Mountains Surrounded by India, China, Pakistan Poses a threat to political stability of the region (both India and Pakistan have nuclear capabilities) Has caused 3 wars since the “Partition” and in the last decade over 75,000 lives.

How has this influenced the conflict over the state of Kashmir? How does the Muslim concentration in the Jammu-Kashmir state compare to the overall concentration in India?
