Léon

Léon (also known as The Professional and Léon: The Professional) is a 1994 French thriller film written and directed by Luc Besson. It stars Jean Reno as a hitman, Gary Oldman as corrupt( 贪污 的 ) DEA agent Stan, and young Natalie Portman, in her feature film debut [dɪ'bju] （初次演出）, as Mathilda, a 12-year-old girl who is taken in by the hitman after her family is murdered, and Danny.A as Tony, who gives the hitman his assignments.

Leon is a hitman living a solitary [‘sɔlitəri] life in New York City.His work comes from a mafioso( 黑手党 ) named Tony. Léon spends his idle time engaging in exercising, nurturing a houseplant that early on he describes as his "best friend," and watching old singers’musicals.

Mathilda ， a twelve-year-old girl with a black eye living with her family in an apartment down the hallway. Mathilda‘s father attracts the ire of corrupt DEA agents, who have been paying him to store cocaine in his residence. After they discover that he has been stealing some of the drugs for himself, one of DEA agents storm the building, led by Stan,who murders Mathilda's entire family.

Stan is a sharp- suited and drug- addicted person.He killed Mathilda’s family even her little brother. He is a policeman as well as a cold-blooded person.

The film received favorable reviews from critics. As of January 2011, the film rated on Rotten Tomatoes with an aggregate ['ægrɪ,get]] rating of 79% based on 42 critical reviews, and the review "Pivoting ['pɪvət] on the unusual relationship between seasoned hitman and his 12-year-old apprentice — a breakout turn by young Natalie Portman — Luc Besson's Léon is a stylish and oddly affecting thriller."

Why it is worth watching? First,its story is between a little girl and a middle-aged man which is not a typical( 老套 的 ) one.They are not a couple,but they are more than that.They have a firm relationship combining with love between family,friends and even lovers.Leon is a simple person with no lovers or friends.He isolated himself from other people,living a lonely life,until he met Mathilda.

Secondly,the pure love between them moved us.Though they are different in many aspects,they do have something in common -----loneliness.Mathilda is Leon’s sunshine,she makes his dark,empty life suddenly seem bright and full.When you see them laughing,shopping and playing together,you will feel really warm in hearts.It seems that they are meant to be together…

The whole film is in a sad mood,but sometime,you will still feel a little sweet and warm.In fact,it has a bad ending.But it brings me many feelings.It lets me believe love again.Also, it makes me believe that there are something in the world really worth giving up your life to protect …Just like Mathilda’s smile for Leon.
