Objective: Students will study the issue of overpopulation Essential Question: What will happen to humans Lang Obj: Students will record key vocabulary and discuss in small groups Where is the World's Population Distributed

Test corrections due Friday

Thinking Geo Quiz  Define Demography:  What are two dangers that humans are facing due to over population?  In what type of country do we see more over population?

Geo and Population (Unit 1 Connection)  Study population problems by describing where people are across Earth’s space and the places where population is growing  Why population is growing at different rates  Globalization shows that Over Population is a whole earth problem as its people vs resources  At local scale, overpopulation is a threat to some regions (balance between people and resources)

Must look at concentration and density need to understand relationship between number of people and available resources

Population Concentration  Two thirds world inhabitants are clustered in four regions  East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Western Europe  Most people live near ocean ( 2/3 of world live 300 m away )  Fertile soil and temperate climate  Northern hemisphere between 10 and 55 N latitude
