How do firefighters help people?

fire What should you do if there is a fire?

fire = burning flames The word fire has a long i sound: tire wire hire fire

flames When you see fire you see flames.

flames = glowing gas The word flame has a long a sound: plane crane lane

heat Flames create heat. These children are getting heat from the fire.

fire - fighters Firefighters put out fires.

firefighters = people that put out fires Firefighters is a compound word. A compound word is when two words are stuck together to make a new word like: superman raincoat fireman rainbow sailboat Can you think of some others?

alarm An alarm rings at the fire station. This tells the firemen there is a fire and it's time to go!

alarm = loud sound or signal

fire station Firemen stay at the fire station. They wait for the alarm to sound.

fire station = a place where firemen and fire trucks are stationed

forest Sometimes a fire occurs in the forest. Firemen are called to put out the fire.

forest = a place with many trees and wild animals

safe Firefighters make sure people are safe.

safe = not in danger
