Here are some of the basics to show you how to get started. It doesn’t show you everything so you will need to experiment with the tools for yourself. You can also go onto u tube, or the Google sketch up website. The links are on the moodle page.

Draw base shape
Contour/ offset the base to create the walls
Use arc to draw internal wall
Straight line tool to draw another wall
And again
Contour/offset each shape to create walls
Use the rubber tool to delete any line that split the walls.
Delete the outside lines to give you the ground plan.
Use the push/pull to make the walls 3D.
You can draw shapes on the walls for holes, doors and windows
To get them to be the correct size use the tape measure to mark out the height of the doors.
Draw doors using the square tool.
Get the push/pull tool move to the doors and when they are highlighted, click and push them back.
Thus will give you the holes for the doors.
To enclose the roof draw round the top edge of the wall.
This is a very easy program to use and experiment with. You can use this design to practice but your final design must be much more interesting. DON’T use this for your designs. Once you are happy with the basics, experiment with the other tools and settings. Remember you are competing to design the most eco friendly AND interesting youth centre.
