Types of Sells Show & Sell (Units must order by August 4) Take Order (Sale begins August 18)

Show and Sell There are a few different methods that a unit can organize to conduct a Show & Sell. All of them involve using popcorn that you already have- so you are showing it to someone and selling it, rather than taking orders. BOOTH: This method is a lot like an old school lemonade stand, your unit gets permission to have a booth in a high traffic area and your scouts sell actual popcorn product there on the spot. This method has been highly effective for many units, as it allow a lot of sales without actually going doo to door. A unit can plan a S&S and split Scouts/families into shifts so that everyone takes a turn. Show and SELL: This method is a variation of the booth mentioned above, In this case, a unit signs out a small quantity of popcorn to a scout who take it throughout his neighborhood, selling as he goes. No Chocolate products are available during Show & Sell.

Take Order This method is where Scouts go to friends, family, and neighbors door to door to sell popcorn using an order sheet. Parents can also help by taking the order forms to work. Later, at the end of the sale, the Scouts deliver the ordered products to the customers who ordered them.

For support or more information about the PayAnywhere opportunity you can go to and training videos are available at Three recommendations we would make: 1. Make sure you sign up as an organization and, with its permission, provide your Charter Organization’s tax ID number. 2. For the organization name you will want to list your Charter Organization’s name exactly as the IRS has it recorded. 3. In the Doing Business As (DBA) field you will want to list your unit’s name (Pack 226 or Troop 12 for example) as this is what will show up on the customer’s receipt.

UNIT SUPPORT ALL NEW Popcorn Sale Guidebook !!

UNIT SUPPORT ALL NEW Unit Program Budget Tool !!! Unit Goal Setting 1. Determine the cost for the entire year of Scouting programs. (Ultimate Year of Scouting) 2. Determine how much popcorn you would need to sell to reach your budget goal. - Budget goal / Unit Commission = Sales Goal 3. Set a dollar sales goal per Scout. - Sales goal / # of Scouts = Scout Goal 4. Break the goal down to a container goal per Scout. - Scout goal / $16.00 (avg. retail) = Container goal “Two out of three people when asked will buy”

UNIT KICK OFFS Helpful Hints *Have a theme for your party (i.e. circus, picnic, etc.). *This is often the first Scout gathering of the new year. MAKE IT FUN! *Review your unit’s calendar for the next year and everything that is a part of your plan for an Ultimate Year of Scouting! *Go over the unit goal and the goal for each individual Scout. *Review the safety and selling tips.

UNIT SUPPORT

Safety Selling Tips Always wear your BSA Class A Uniform (not class B) (Bass Pro requires full Class A) Always sell with an adult and/or with a group. Never enter anyone’s home. Do not sell after dark. Always stay on the sidewalks and driveways. Never carry large amounts of cash. Practice, practice, practice... your sales pitch

Possible Unit Incentives “It Takes Money To Make Money” “It Takes Money To Make Money” 1. Pizza Party for the Top selling Den. 2. Gift Card for Scouts who fill-a-sheet and/or hit their sales goal. 3. Special Prize for Top Seller(s) in the unit. 4. Special Prize for Top Seller in each Den/Patrol. 5. And of Course the ever popular……. “PIE IN THE FACE”

Planning your Sale The Scouts go door-to-door with a Take Order form or use the form to sell to family, friends and co-workers. 1. Establish your dates. Sale starts officially on August 18, Set up a sales territory for Scouts if needed. 3. Create a “Unit Blitz Day” to have your territories all done in one day. 4. Have dens/patrols sell as a group activity. 5. Have Parent take a scout with a form to work. With a parent, consider asking a company to buy popcorn for their employees. 6. Less than 20% of households have been contacted to purchase popcorn to support Scouting. Two out of three people will buy if they are asked.

Tips for Product Storage & Handling Do not store in vehicles. Not too hot Not too cold Handle tins with care to prevent dents and popcorn breakage. Shrink wrap boxed items used for display and/or handled frequently. (We will not accept Show And Sell returns that are damaged or opened) If the Caramel gets to warm it will be gooey!!!
