 To have the students gather more information about the European traditions and culture.  To raise intercultural awareness.  To have them compare their culture and traditions with other European countries.

Students will be able to describe what people do in a festival using short sentences. Students will be able to understand simple texts on what people do regularly around the world to celebrate festivals. They will prepare a poster about Turkish and European Cultures.

 Students read short texts about the festivals around the world at the beginning of the unit.  Then they learn some vocabulary about festivals, for example; halloween, easter, thanksgiving, christmas …and et.

 Using the vocabulary and grammar that they have learnt, they write short paragraphs describing the festivals in Turkey and Europe.  They also prepare fun activities like crossword puzzles and matching exercises.  And they colour easter eggs.

 The aim is for the students to understand and respect other cultures and their traditions.  Students be more aware of European and Turkish festivals.  Students be able read, comprehend and write short texts.

 Students are asked to make research and prepare a poster about Easter. The posters are exhibited on the notice board and the classroom wallls for other students.
