VISION VOCATION GUIDE: WELCOME, NEW VOCATION DIRECTORS! Presented by Patrice Tuohy, Executive Editor, VISION Vocation Guide Chicago, IL July 22, 2010

VISION is your publication  VISION Vocation Guide in print and online is published by TrueQuest Communications on behalf of the National Religious Vocation Conference.  It is an NRVC publication--that means it is your publication. It is specifically designed to provide Vocation Directors with an effective resource for vocation ministry.  It is the most comprehensive vocation resource available in print and online.

Distribution: All eyes on VISION P RINT —throughout the U.S. and Canada:  120,000 VISION Vocation Guide  8,000 parish posters in English, Spanish, and French  100,000 multilingual bookmarks distributed [Please show samples of guide, posters and bookmarks.] D IGITAL E DITION —worldwide:  A fully searchable and clickable electronic replica of the VISION printed guide is available at:  NEW! An iPhone and iPad app of the digital edition—and soon a Droid app—available for free download. [Please click through to digital edition to show some of its features, namely all ads contain live links. Traffic to digital edition is tracked and gets reported to advertisers.] W EBSITE —worldwide:  VISION Vocation-Network.org receives approximately 300,000 unique visitors each year.  6,500 people completed online profiles this past year (Aug. 09 to July 10), of whom approximately 90 percent are seriously discerning.* *Based on reader survey responses to the question, How seriously are you discerning a vocation?

Award-winning editorial content VISION articles generally fall into the following categories:  Prayer and discernment  Religious life  Priests  Sisters  Brothers  Missionaries  Media review  Being Catholic VISION’s blogs cover religious in the news, vocation stories, general Catholic items. The editors welcome story ideas and suggested authors. Being featured in VISION is great way to promote your community, so keep us in mind if you have a member with an interesting ministry or unique vocation story. VISION is a member of the Catholic Press Association and has received a number of awards for editorial excellence.

Lively and unique online features VISION is available in English, Spanish and some French: [Note the language options in the upper right corner of home page] New content is added daily. MAIN FEATURES: [Please walk through the various sections of the site]  VocationMatch.com: A free service to discerners that allows them to fill out profiles and be matched with communities. They can then choose to have their profiles sent to any community they desire. More later on how communities participate in the Match. VocationMatch.com  Community Search: Anyone can go to this section, key in a search word and find communities. They can choose to send a message to that community. Community Search  Opportunities: Post your upcoming discernment, service, education events. Opportunities IMPORTANT: Our Opportunities section is very popular and will help draw people to your events. Please use it. It is very easy to add an opportunity. Your opportunities also get linked to your online listings. So when someone views your online listing, they will see a little chain link icon indicating that you have an upcoming event. If they click on the link, they’ll learn about your event.  Quizzes and indexes. Feel free to suggest additional links for us to add in our web index, and if a member of your community has a blog, let us know and we will add it to our blog index.  Blogs  Q & A on Vocations by Sr. Julie Vieira and on Catholicism by award-winning Catholic author Alice Camille  Seasonal features, such as Advent meditations and Lenten online retreats.

VISION’s unsurpassed advertising benefits INCLUSION IN VISION VOCATIONMATCH.COM This highly successful online service–featured in TIME magazine and on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric–matches discerners’ interests and backgrounds with your community’s lifestyle, charism, and candidate requirements. Readers benefit by focusing their search for the right vocation and community. You benefit by connecting with qualified candidates who are genuinely interested in you. H OW IT WORKS : As an advertiser, you create a profile in the VISION. When someone goes through the Match, their answers are matched against the participating community profiles and the results page shows the matches. [Please demonstrate Match now]. You can view and revise your community profile at any time by logging in to the Advertiser Area. A DVERTISER A REA D EMONSTRATION : Go to [For an example, key in and then password: basilian123.] You will land on the S TATISTICS page for the Basilian Monks, which shows how many views, click throughs, and profiles the community has received. See other tabs across the page: P ROSPECTS, L ISTINGS, C ONTACT, M ATCH P ROFILE, etc. Click on P ROSPECTS : This page lists the names of prospects who have requested info about the community. Profiles can be resent if you did not receive them. See instructions to the right. Click on M ATCH P ROFILE. This is where you can review and change your community’s Match

Unsurpassed Advertising Benefits (continued)  MULTIMEDIA EXPOSURE o Free print and online descriptive listings with your display ad. o Free posting of a video in your online listing (must be under 2 minutes). Also included on VISION’s youtube channel: o Free online postings of vocation discernment events, and educational and service opportunities.  MULTILINGUAL EXPOSURE through our online features in Spanish, including Encuentro Vocacional, and free Spanish and French listings and select articles in French.  UP-TO-THE-MINUTE READER RESPONSES and monthly status reports of online activity. Please note we also post up-to-the-minute discerner response statistics: Click on last year for comparison. This link found on the Advertiser page, lower left.  ADVERTISING OPTIONS to fit any budget.  EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE from professionals committed to addressing your needs.

Print and online advertising options Best approach is a multimedia approach (print and online exposure). Larger ads do better than smaller ads. All ads should have simple, positive messages.  With your print display ad, you get a free 150-word descriptive listing that appears in the guide and online. You can also submit a 2-minute video to accompany your online listing.  Web ads can be purchased in addition to a print display ad or can be purchased along with the purchase of a stand-alone directory listing. Web ads circulate throughout the VISION site. There are several different sizes available. You are sent monthly reports of how many views and click throughs your web ad has received.

VISION’s comprehensive promotion plan VISION commits significant resources each year to promoting its publications and vocations in general. A DVERTISING  Google Sponsored Ads/Yahoo ads to draw traffic to the site  Print and web ads in various Catholic magazines, newspapers, online services, and program books M ULTILINGUAL P ROMOTIONAL M ATERIALS  Parish posters, bookmarks, pens, flash drives P UBLIC R ELATIONS AND C ONVENTIONS  Periodic Surveys and Press Releases on Vocation Trends/Monthly E-Vocation Newsletter: See links at lower left to surveys and press releases.  Media interviews on Vocations with local, national and international journalists and media outlets.  Attendance at various conventions, including the National Catholic Youth Conference.
