Reduce barriers to housing FROM More than 100 separate criteria for homeless programs just related to evictions and criminal records, causing a disparate impact on communities of color. TO Lowered and standardized criteria for eligibility for programs serving homeless families and individuals, limited to 5 criteria associated with criminal records Provide resources and housing for people with all types of needs FROM Limited options for type of housing or resources depending on where someone is asking for support TO More permanent housing created through new CoC investments and increased flexible resources (i.e. Diversion) for people only needing minimal supports to secure a safe and stable home without needing to enter shelter or other homeless housing. Lowering Barriers to Programs: Complex and unnecessary screening criteria was causing substantial challenges in connecting families to housing through coordinated entry and had a disparate impact on communities of color. “The coordinated entry process does not screen people out for assistance because of perceived barriers to housing or services, including, but not limited to, lack of employment or income, drug or alcohol use, or having a criminal record.
