Animals

Are they the Same ?

Classification So we can tell the difference.

Two basic categories of Animals Invertebrates (no back bone) & Vertebrates (with back bone)

What is an example of an Invertebrate ?

Worms & flies

There are 6 types of Inverts Sponges, Cnidarians, Worms, Mollusks, Arthropods, & echinoderms

#1 : Sponges Sponges are simple and have pores for feeding

#2 : Cnidarians Have stingers. Food in and waste out the same way

#3 : Worms Breath through their skin. Have segments.

#4 : Mollusks These are the soft body animals. No skeleton.

#5 : Arthropods Jointed Legs. Most common animals. External Skeleton.

#6 : Echinoderms Have spines. Have an internal skeleton.

-Tomorrow in groups. You will create an alien invertebrate for each type of the invertebrates we studied today.
