Name of Project It Feels So Real Subtitle or Description Does light type affect plant growth?

Problem/Question Do plants grow taller in natural or artificial light?

Research Briefly summarize the research that you included in your report Plants undergo a process called photosynthesis in order to make food. A major part of this process is light. Because most plants live outdoors, they use light from the sun. However, the equation for photosynthesis does not specify “sunlight”

Hypothesis Based on the research, what do you believe will happen in the experiment? The plants placed in natural light (sunlight) will grow tallest because plants are predisposed to natural light.

Experiment Summarize the steps in your experiment. Do not list them, rather, describe what processes you used. One plant was placed outside, the other was placed inside the classroom. Both were exposed to 12 hours of light per day, and measured each day for 2 weeks.

Data Create a table to represent your data DayNatural Light (cm) Artificial Light (cm)

Results What does your data mean? Explain the graphic representation from the previous slide. The plant grown in artificial light showed more growth than the plant exposed to natural light.

Conclusions Answer your lab questions here. (Use complete statements) Which plant grew taller? The plant grown in artificial light grew taller than the plant grown in natural light. Why is this the case? The plant in natural light grew taller because the artificial light was more constant and direct than natural light.
