Types of Empowerment Cultural Empowerment There are five main different types of empowerment: economic, political, societal, cultural and national empowerment. Cultural Empowerment Things to do with: language, food, clothing, religion, customs and history Political empowerment Things to do with: government, voting and politics National Empowerment Things to do with: decision making Societal Empowerment Things to do with: the community, other people, protesting or complaining when one section of society is treated unfairly Economic Empowerment Things to do with: jobs, money, needs and wants

Learning new skills in order to get a new job. Studying history. Voting in an election. Researching which careers / jobs have high salaries. Respecting others. Learning a new language. Complaining or protesting when you feel something is wrong or unfair. Celebrating your country’s national holiday. Saving money for the future. Supporting your country’s soccer team at the World Cup. Meeting new people. Running for student council.
