Fish and Wildlife Conservation Council Mapping layers of Forest Service Roads, Linear Wildlife Openings, Wildlife Openings June 10 th, 2016

FWCC SUPPORTS WHAMA’S FWCC fully supports the NC Wildlife Commission’s Wildlife Habitat Active Management Area’s (WHAMA’s) We understand WHAMA’s are critical in order to prioritize areas that create and enhance habitat for wildlife We also know this is only a small portion of the forest where wildlife concerns are found. For that reason, we feel the following maps are critical in order to meet landscape goals of 12 % young forest Plus - Fire - control burns & wildfire prevention, linear wildlife openings, wildlife openings, rescue access, day lighting roads and general upkeep of roads All are crucial not only for wildlife, but for many forms of recreation.

LOCAL SPORTSMEN & WOMEN FWCC represents sportsmen/women 18 counties Members are diverse in interest/occupation Members have vast knowledge of local fishing & hunting areas To support our members & our wildlife across all 18 counties, FWCC urges that following maps receive strong consideration Basic principle of our support - 0 net loss of any F/S roads, linear wildlife openings, wildlife openings
