Independence day falling on 11th of November is a national holiday in Poland. On this day Poland became independent after 123 years of partitions. In our school we celebrate this date. Please watch the photos.

Uprising of Polish people from Great Poland against Germany shortly after the end of World War I. Citizens of Great Poland region wanted their land of Prussian partition to return to Poland. Thanks to the success of the uprising, Poland strengthened its independence. (27 December 1918 – 16 February 1919)

Stanisław Taczak (born 8 April 1874 in Mieszkowo near Jarocin, died 2 March 1960 in Malbork) – captain of Army of German Empire’s infantry, the first general commander of Great Poland’s uprising, Great Poland Army lieutenant colonel and Polish Army Brigade’s general. Józef Dowbor-Muśnicki (born 25 October 1867 in Garbowo near Sandomierz, died 26 October 1937 in Batorow near Poznan) – general of Army of Russian Empire’s and Polish Army’s General commander of Polish forces in former Prussian partition.

Started on 27th of December 1918 as a reaction to German demostrations against the visit of Polish pianist and independence activist Ignacy J. Paderewski to Poznan. Insurgents seized whole Great Poland in short time without its north and east-south edges. The uprising ended on 16 February 1919 in truce in Trewir. The truce expanded rules ending World War I 11 November 1918 on uprising front. Next to Great Poland’s uprising 1806 and the Sejny uprising 1919 it was another uprising won by Polish people in our history. The Strike broke out in the morning of 28th of June (in so called Black Thursday) in Cegielski factory and changed into spontanious Great Poland’s people protest against totalitarian government

Independent Self-Governing Labour Union„Solidarity’’– national labour union created in 1980 to defend workers’ rights.Until 1989 also one of the main centres of mass resistance against PPR’s government. Great political influences in III Rzeczypospolita (for example, Solidarity Voting Action in ) became weaker with time.
