NASA Became worlds first Hispanic female astronaut She first flew in space on the shuttle Discovery in 1993 and logged more than 950 hours. Veteran of four space flights The four flights that she was on was the STS-56, STS-66, STS-96, STS-110 In September 2007 she was named the Deputy Director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
