Sub-Saharan Africa The 7 Phases of the Project Cycle

1. Introducing the Essential Questions What are the effects of movement on sub- Saharan Africa? How has the past shaped sub-Saharan Africa today? What are the impacts of diversity on sub-Saharan Africa?

2. Introducing the Culminating Challenge Mission Preview You will choose one of the following roles: *economic advisor *historian *tourism advisor

3. Developing Subject Matter Expertise: Mastering Topics & Tools to Accomplish the Mission in the Culminating Challenge... and Do Well on the Test Textbook readings World Studies: Africa Physical Geography: 8-23 Culture: Chapter 5: West Africa Chapter 6: East Africa Chapter 7: Central and Southern Africa Class Activities Team Tasks

4. Doing the Culminating Challenge Your task is to create a presentation to persuade the National Tourism Council that your country should be ranked #1!

5. Debriefing the Challenge (ideally with Subject-Matter Experts) You will make a presentation to the Global Tourism Council. The job of the Global Tourism Council is to sell the country to potential tourists. The Global Tourism Council is ranking the top countries in Africa to visit. Your job is to persuade the Global Tourism Council, using your tasks, that your country is the # 1 place to visit!
