Outcomes addressing food security in a conflict context

Session learning points  Inter and intra-community relationships directly impact opportunities for building resilience, and therefore food security outcomes.  Program interventions designed to build resilience directly impact inter-community relations, in their targeting, design and approach  Simple, practical tools can help development agencies better understand inter-community dynamics and the local context, to design and implement context-appropriate interventions

Arid Lands Case Study (25 min)

Case Study Summary  Program interventions designed to build resilience directly impact inter-community relations, in their targeting, design and approach  A negative impact on inter-community relationships doesn’t just exacerbate “conflict.” It can nullify the program’s impact.  Resilience interventions must be designed around social, economic and environmental dependencies at a systems-level.  The same intervention can have a positive or negative impact on community relationships, depending on how it is approached and delivered on the ground.
