Differences between lions and cats By dev

 There are many differences between lions and domestic cats, such as physical and behavioral traits. The domestic cat has the same anatomical features and senses of the lion. They are both nocturnal animals meaning they sleep at day and hunt at night. All cats have retractable claws and are carnivores. Along with many similarities there are many differences too. For example, the domestic cats are tamer. The lion can be trained to be friendly but it is never born that way. House hold cats are solitary hunters however lions are pack hunters.

HUNTING & PREY GROUPS OF FEMALE LIONS TYPICALLY HUNT TOGETHER, PREYING MOSTLY ON HOOFED ANIMALS, SUCH AS BUFFALO, ZEBRAS, GAZELLE. Similarities  They both eat and tear meat apart Differences  cats are solitary hunters  lions are pack hunters

TEETH ARE ADAPTED TO THREE FUNCTIONS: STABBING (CANINES), ANCHORING (CANINES), AND CUTTING (MOLARS). CATS HAVE NO FLAT-CROWNED CRUSHING TEETH AND THEREFORE CANNOT CHEW THEIR FOOD; INSTEAD, THEY CUT IT UP. EXCEPT FOR THE CANINES AND MOLARS, THE CAT’S TEETH ARE MORE OR LESS NONFUNCTIONAL; MOST OF THE CHEEK TEETH DO NOT EVEN MEET WHEN THE MOUTH IS CLOSED. THE DENTAL FORMULA IN ALL CATS, FOR EITHER SIDE OF BOTH UPPER AND LOWER JAWS.  Similarities  They both have sharpened teeth  Differences  Lions teeth are bigger than the cats teeth

SENSES CATS ARE GENERALLY NOCTURNAL IN HABIT. THE RETINA OF THE CAT’S EYE IS MADE EXTRA SENSITIVE TO LIGHT BY A LAYER OF GUANINE, WHICH CAUSES THE EYE TO SHINE AT NIGHT IN A STRONG LIGHT. THE EYES THEMSELVES, LARGE WITH PUPILS THAT EXPAND OR CONTRACT TO MERE SLITS ACCORDING TO THE DENSITY OF LIGHT, DO NOT DISTINGUISH COLORS CLEARLY. CATS HAVE A THIRD EYELID, OR NICTITATING MEMBRANE, COMMONLY CALLED. ITS APPEARANCE IS USED FREQUENTLY AS AN INDICATOR OF THE CAT’S GENERAL STATE OF HEALTH.RETINA  Similarities  They both smell from there mouth  Differences  Lions can smell further than cats
