Lesson 2 Accessing valid health information, products, and services Bellringer What is one behavior that you practiced yesterday or today that helps promote health? Explain one thing you should know about your health and why you should know it.

Raise your hand if you read lesson 2. Reading each lesson is important because test questions and exam questions are straight from the book.

How can you evaluate health information, products, and services? 1.What is the source of the information? 2.What are the qualifications of the person or group providing the information? 3.Is the information up-to-date? 4.Have reputable health-care professionals evaluated the information? Take out your advertisement and a piece of paper

How can you evaluate health information, products, and services? 5. What is the purpose of the information? 6. Does the information educate or merely appeal to your emotions? 7. How can you obtain additional information? 8. Does the information make realistic claims? You should always EVAULUATE a product or service before using it.

What are the steps for accessing health information, products, and services? 1. identify what you need 2. find it 3. evaluate it 4. take action if there is misleading or false information
