Twin 14-year old girls who allegedly stole crisps, sweets and fizzy drinks during the riots spent the night in the cells after their mum marched them to the police station. They were among a mob of youths who stormed into Tesco in North London on August 7, Highbury youth court heard. Why do you think she did this?

A SCHOOLBOY accused of killing a pensioner with a single punch during the riots was urged by onlookers not to attack him. As the 16-year-old allegedly set upon Richard Bowes, 68, when he tried to put out a fire, they begged: “What the f*** are you doing, no, no, he’s an old man.” The force of the blow knocked Mr Bowes back and he smashed his head on the pavement. He died three days later in hospital.

Possible...and likely(as an example) Prison/Remand Unable to ever work with Children or young people (CRB) check Unable to emigrate..and if a foreigner possible deportation May lose job, if working... May lose council home or be refused, as have a criminal record (subsequently may become homeless)... Do you think the Council is right to throw out an entire family for the acts of one member? Discuss......

Was this organised Crime? In what way did Mobile phones have an impact on what happened? Was this Racist? And in what way (discuss the areas/cities that these riots occurred) Was this a form of Anarchy by disillusioned youth? (you are all young people would you take part if this happened in your local town, on your own doorstep)? When the local shop keepers/workers tried to defend their places of work and buildings, why do you think they did this?
