The Gospel for the Christian: The Life of Grace and Faith Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, But the righteous man shall live by faith.

Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; And there is no savior besides Me.

Psalm 72:18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders. Psalm 83:18 That they may know that Thou alone, whose name is the LORD, Art the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 86:10 For Thou art great and doest wondrous deeds; Thou alone art God. Isaiah 2:11 The proud look of man will be abased, And the loftiness of man will be humbled, And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. Revelation 15:4 Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? For Thou alone art holy

What is Faith? 1. Faith is an act of trust Faith is resting in the power or sufficiency or work of someone else Faith is then relying or trusting one the one God has sent John 6:25-29 and Isaiah 48:16

Isaiah 48:16 Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, from the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.

What is Faith? 2. Faith is passive, not active, that it faith is a means of receiving from God. This is all helpless man can do to receive from God. Receive by faith, not doing for God but receiving from God Romans 4:16 For this reason it is by faith, that it might be in accordance with grace, in order that the promise may be certain to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

What is Faith? 3. The issue of faith is always the object of faith not how much faith we have We are not saved by faith or restored by faith; we are saved by the work of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and restored by the work of the Spirit of God

What is Faith? 4. Faith has no power. Faith has no merit. The power and merit of faith is the object of faith If that object is the wrong object there is no power from that faith Faith must be in the right person to do the right thing Acts 16:31 Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved

What is Faith? 5. What kind of Faith is God looking for? Faith must be in the One who God has sent. The faith God is looking for is not our faith in what we do or what we know or in a principle or a process. Our faith is to be in a person. We can say we have faith but that faith is misdirected into something that we are doing

The difference can be seen in these two statements: I, God, will do for you if you do for me. Trust me and do... Whereas: I God will do for you, trust me.

What is Faith? 6. It is not only important to know BY faith it is also important to know WHY faith. Faith puts God’s sufficiency and power to the test in Spiritual warfare. Our works do not do that, our works only test ourselves whereas Grace and faith puts God to the test and He is glorified.

What is Faith? 7. Faith is the means whereby we receive and ar benefited by what God alone can do. This starts at the Cross and continues in the Spirit filled life with its blessings in life and all the joy of this life. All is received on the basis of faith that it might be in accordance with grace.

Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, But the righteous man shall live by faith. From Faith at Salvation to Faith on our entrance into heaven and living by Faith in between Philippians 2:6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him
