Allusion An allusion is a figure of speech that refers to a well-known story, event, person, or object in order to make a comparison in the readers' minds. an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference. “I was surprised his nose was not growing like Pinocchio’s.” “He was a real Romeo with the ladies.”
Free Verse poetry Free verse poems do not follow the rules, and have no rhyme or rhythm; but they are still an artistic expression. They are sometimes thought to be a modern form of poetry; but, the free verse types of poem have been around for hundreds of years.
Identifying a Rhyme Scheme Rhyme scheme is a poet's deliberate pattern of lines that rhyme with other lines in a poem or a stanza. The rhyme scheme, or pattern, can be identified by giving end words that rhyme with each other the same letter.
