In 6 th grade social studies students will be studying world geography.

In reading class students read books together as a class and do projects about them.

There are multiple electives for incoming 6 th graders to choose from to complete their schedule.

Theatre Arts teaches students to be confident and have fun with others.

Art teaches students to be creative and original.

Choir lets students who enjoy singing express themselves through song.

In band students get to chose from a variety of woodwind, brass or percussion instruments.

Orchestra is for students who play stringed instruments.

Advice For Incoming Students How did you feel coming to KJH in the beginning of the year? “I was nervous about the big change.” -Racheal Richard “I was scared it would be too different.” -Drew Murphy How have you dealt/coped with the change from elementary school ? “It was different but I got used to it fairly quickly.” -Maddie McKinney “My sister helped me adjust.” -Jacob Kelske

Advice Continued What is your favorite part of Katy Jr. High? “I enjoy gym because it allows me to get my energy out.” -Hunter Clapp “I like band because I love playing my instrument.”-Ashlei Jones Do you have any advice for incoming 6 th graders? “Don’t be too stressed, but remember to study.” -Eduardo Sanchez “Always remember your locker combination and your tracker.” -Alison Spavale

Advice For The Parents Your child will be very nervous before their first day of school, it is normal. After a few weeks, your child will feel right at home. Elementary school is quite different from junior high, so try to prepare your child as much as you can for the upcoming changes. Students will most likely have homework every night, so encourage them to write all of their assignments in their tracker and to stay as organized as possible.
