Year 3 Orienteering, Nature walk and Sleepover June 12 th 2015 Weather: hot and sunny

Thursday 11 th June Year Three were busy making chocolate chip cookies for the sleepover the following night. We needed to make plenty. In the end I think we made about 120!! Using our mathematics to work out the quantities we needed. Making sure we weighed everything carefully.

Using the rubbing in method got a little sticky! Mixing it all together. We used a cookie cutter to make sure the cookies were the same size. We made 120!!

A hot and sunny Friday morning dawned and the Year Three pupils arrived at their classrooms laden with sleeping bags, suitcases and rucksacks. It looked like we were sleeping over for a week. At am. It was time to leave. We were all really excited thinking about what the day would bring.

We split into two groups. Group A ventured into the nature reserve and Group B went off orienteering around Cambourne. “ Which direction did you say we needed to go?”

It took a little while to find the clues and check we were going in the right direction.

It is not even lunchtime yet!!

The clues took us to the cricket field near the Blue School. There we found the stepping stones. I must be facing east.

The nature reserve. What an amazing place. You should investigate!

What do we think it is?

Have you ever made a whistle with a blade of grass? Mrs Huisman has the knack!

Back to school and time to relax with a cookie and a movie. Not for long though. Time to sort out the all important sleeping arrangements.

Next a delicious dinner and then get ready for the evening activities.

Leaf Printing

Making hot chocolate on the trangias.

and more…….

Working as a team! First you need some plastic drain pipe cut in half.

Don’t drop the ball!!

Singing around the camp fire.

The day is nearly done! Just one more story from Mrs Higham. Then time for Zzzzzzzzz………

A new day dawns. Breakfast and ready go home! I think we are ready for Burwell now!

A HUGE THANK YOU To everyone who helped to make the Year Three sleepover so successful.
