Street Safety Gymnasium 1306, Moscow, Russia

 Our aim was to raise the awareness of our primary school students and to help elder students learn something themselves as well and check their knowledge of the rules on the road. Aim

 Participants: 9 DP IB students, 23 PYP students.  Advisors: homeroom teachers, CAS-coordinator. Participants

Description of the project

 It wasn't easy setting them but we managed to have them anyway, sometimes just really brief ones to catch up with the update from each member. 1) Weekly group meetings.

 During our project we used a presentation (in Russian), a poster (in English), some equipment for the game and activities. Students did all these by themselves, here's a link to the presentations, pictures and video:  RmdzZFWk0  Video separately on youtube:  2) Preparing the props.

On the day of the project:

 We started with a presentation which was followed by a quiz on what the kids have learnt. You will see in the pics and on the video that they were really involved and learnt a lot of new things although they new a lot by then!

 Then we went outside, where children got the task to draw an ideal situation on the road. So they were supposed to use the rules on the road and place the objects wisely, safe for the cars and pedestrians, use zebra crossings, road signs and traffic lights with correct signals. As to me, it really worked out in an interesting way, students of different age managed to blend and collaborate in a productive way.

 We finished with an active game outside, one of our students was showing them signals a traffic guard would normally use and they had to follow these signals. It was a quick game, so kids who didn’t really follow left the field and we had to winners at the end – those who were attentive enough to follow all the signals and commands!

Thank you for your attention!
