Battle of Bull Run 1 st battle of the war –A.K.A. Battle of Manassas Union troops march toward Richmond, VA in July of 1861 “Battle to end the war” –Going to be fun

Battle of Bull Run McDowell leads Union troops- poorly trained- could barely survive the march to Manassas. Citizens and politicians came to watch “the war” with their picnic baskets.
