KNOWING VS. DOING  Ahab KNOWS God’s Will  1Kings 22:1-28  What Ahab DOES  1Kings 22:29-40

KNOWING VS. DOING  Apparent Lessons  The majority MAY be wrong  Peer Pressure is real  Authority does not = right  Doing right sometimes brings loneliness  We will suffer for doing right  Speak the truth at all costs  Never compromise truth

KNOWING VS. DOING  Evil people may take advantage of you  Your reputation speaks volumes (1Kgs 22:8)  Even if you’re the only one, stand for right

KNOWING VS. DOING  WHY did Ahab DO what he did when he KNEW what he knew?  Possible reasons:  Followed the majority  Wanted recognition  “What is right, what is truth”  1Jn 4:1,6

KNOWING VS. DOING  Ahab did what he did….BECAUSE HE WANTED TO!  Even though he KNEW God’s will, it did not matter  It was his way or the highway  Evidence would not have convinced him

KNOWING VS. DOING  In the Church & the World, KNOWING does  The Lost in the world  God has given all the opportunity to KNOW how to be saved  Titus 2:11 “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men”  That KNOWLEDGE must be ACTED on  Jn 3:16 Belief, 2Pet 3:9 Repentance, Rom 10:10 Confession of Faith, Acts 2:38 Baptism, Col 2:6-7 Walk in Truth

CONCLUSION  Ahab’s exercise in Futility  Ahab KNEW / We can and may KNOW God’s will  Ahab did not DO / We may not DO God’s will  Ahab could not hide / We will not hide  Rev 20:12-15  John 7:17 “If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine”
