Who Am I? Dana E. Rogers I am a mother of one child (a daughter). Who is currently attending Winthrop University, majoring in Biology. My home is Johns Island, South Carolina.

Professional Background I am the Head Start Administrator for the South Carolina Direct Service (SCDS) of the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project (ECMHSP) home office in Raleigh, North Carolina. My overall responsibility is for the supervision, direction, planning and administration of the ECMHSP SCDS Administrative office and center based operations to ensure quality services for Migrant Head Start children and families. I’ve worked in the early childhood education field for thirty years in various positions.

I am a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves. Where I have earned the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) and held the position of Health Administrative Services Superintendent. I was honorably discharged after serving twenty two years of service. I have a Associates Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a concentration in Early Child Care and Education.

School I attended and graduated from the public system of Charleston County located in the state of South Carolina. The one thing I remember and the main thing that impacted and motivated me was: The teachers always said; “I’ve got mine and you have to get yours”; therefore, I was left with the impression that if it was to be then it was up to me.

Position The SCDS of ECMHSP has undergone restructuring and the position of Head Start Administrator now requires a Master’s Degree in Human Service or related field; I find myself at this juncture in my life. I love the work that I do and would love to maintain my current position; therefore, I am returning to school to obtain a Master’s Degree in Education. Making the difference in the lives of the children and families we serve is the key to our success.
