 You brought up “natural environment.”  You brought up “appropriate curriculum”  You brought up “working with other professionals and parents.”

This is a simple way to use “words” without having to actually speak. It gives directions using pictures. Kiddos with language difficulties have a hard time processing your “words” but, can understand pictures.

Child can communicate his/her needs and wants with pictures in their vocabulary book. You will notice it says “I want” and then the child adds the item to the strip. The idea is that the child will communicate without us asking, they will spontaneously and independently communicate.

 Unit 1 : What is development, how do we know if a child is typical developing or atypical developing?  Unit 2 : Characteristics of children with *autism *speech and language delay *orthopedically impaired *vision/hearing loss

 IFSP – Individualized Family Service Plan VS.  IEP- Individualized Education Plan IFSP : family focused ( birth – 2 yrs. 11 mos.) IEP : student focused ( years )

 excerpt from pp in your text The Exceptional Child: Inclusion in Early Childhood Education 1. The school nurse checks the hearing and vision of all the children in a Head Start classroom. 2. The teacher uses a checklist to observe a child's play skills. 3. Based on family concerns, a kindergarten student is tested by the speech language pathologist and school psychologist. In light of assessment and early intervention, what do you think comes next? How will help be provided for a child who has been evaluated in one of these scenarios and is in need of services?

 Where do parents go to get their child evaluated in your home state?  Did you find it difficult to get the information?
